About Tillandsia Biotope...

Tillandsia : Tillandsias, commonly known as Airplants, is the largest genus of the pineapple family (Bromeliaceae) comprising over 500 species. Tillandsias are often epiphytic, meaning that they grow on - but do not harm - other plants,  they do not need soil to grow and they absorb water and nutrients through their leaves.

Biotope : an area of uniform environmental conditions occupied by a community of plants and animals.

At Tillandsia Biotope, we have the largest collection of tillandsias (airplants) in Singapore. We started selling airplants in December 2003, since then we have been bringing in shipments after shipments of airplants and are continually sourcing for new species, hybrids or cultivars.

Our aim is to provide a little something for everyone. At Tillandsia Biotope, you can find very common and cheap species as well as the really exotic, rare and extremely expensive airplants. There will definitely be a suitable plant for you whether you are a novice or an experienced tillandsia collector.

In response to numerous requests made by our customers for other quirky plants, we have added new group of plants like the Pet Plants (these are small cactus & succulents grown in specially manufactured capsules) and Pet Orchids (tissue-cultured orchids grown in airtight containers).

You can purchase our plants online. Click here.

About Tillandsia Biotope's Website ...

In the past, there is virtually no information about growing airplants in Singapore’s environment. Since the launch of this website on August 2004, many members have taken a lot of precious time and effort to write about their planting experiences and post photos of their lovely plants on the website.

With their continual input, the website has grown into a very good resource centre for all who are interested in planting airplants in Singapore. You are cordially invited to join us on our continuous journey to learn more about these delightful and fascinating plants...
